Huntsville Hospital School of Surgical Technology, located in the Dowdle Center at 109 Governors Drive, is a 6-month program designed to prepare an individual for an entry-level surgical technologist (surgical assistant)position in the Operating Room.
This is a non-accredited program and students are not eligible to take the national certification exam. If selected for this program, students are considered a full-time (36 hours/week) Huntsville Hospital employee. The classroom is 12 weeks in length and meets Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There are two clinical rotations with an assigned preceptor for a total of 10 weeks. There are no prerequisites. You must be eligible to be a hospital employee.

- All applications must include a resume with the job application.
- A 3-year contract is required, which states that the participant will have a work commitment.
- Individuals currently employed by Huntsville Hospital may apply but their overall work history including any past disciplinary actions will be taken into consideration in the final applicant selection process.
- Positions in the OR require the employee to take call, and be able to return on site within 30 minutes. This is not required while in the program.
