5th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run ... A Tremendous Success!

Ribbon Run Thanks to the 3,634 runners who joined us early on a spectacular Fall morning to raise more than $150,000 to benefit the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation. In just five years, the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run has grown to become not only the largest race in Huntsville, but also in the state of Alabama! As we celebrate the success of the Ribbon Run, we also celebrate Liz’s 10th anniversary as cancer-free! All proceeds from the Ribbon Run will help pay for the Breast MRI machine at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.

Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund

Liz Hurley Liz Hurley is an award-winning broadcast journalist who has been a popular fixture in Tennessee Valley television news since 1983. A respected news anchor on WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Liz has long been an advocate for women's health.

In 1998, Liz experienced first-hand "The Biggest Story of My Life" when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that had taken her mother when Liz was a child. Liz received extensive chemotherapy and underwent a double mastectomy. Her treatment and surgery were video documented so that Liz could encourage women to practice monthly self-examination and to share her experience.

Thousands of women are now better informed about breast health issues, thanks to Liz's efforts. In addition to personally counseling other women who suffer from the disease, Liz dedicates a large part of her time to issues that deal with the education, early detection, treatment and potential cure for breast cancer.
