Cardiologist Phillip Laney, M.D., The Heart Center at Huntsville Hospital, educated and entertained a packed house at the February 2nd "Heart Headlines" event. To show the crowd that exercise doesn't have to be boring, some participants engaged in an upbeat Zumba demonstration let by a Huntsville Hospital Wellness Center instructor. On November 10th, Breast Imaging Specialist Libby Shadinger, M.D., from the Breast Center at Huntsville Hospital, shared important breast health information and kept us entertained at the same time. Our friends from Lite 96.9 treated us to a holiday version of “Name that Tune,” and The Intimate Apparel Department from Belk provided contest winners with gift certificates for bras, as well as a display of their newest intimate apparel items. Motivational speaker, life coach and best-selling author Gail Blanke challenged a sold out crowd to get rid of their physical and emotional clutter and live happier, more confident lives on Sept. 10, at Merrimack Hall. Gail's presentation, based on her new book "Throw Out Fifty Things," was a refreshing reminder to clear the "life plaque" that builds up thanks to physical clutter, regrets and grudges. Lite 96.9’s Abby Kay and Nate Adams kicked off the Laugh & Learn event June 16 with a music trivia game at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Dr. Marco Cioppi, board-certified vascular surgeon, then presented “Hot Legs” about the importance of keeping your legs healthy and options for the prevention and treatment of spider and varicose veins. | More than 300 women (and a few men!) joined us for our Laugh & Learn kickoff event at the Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center on Sept. 25, 2008. Paula Statman, national speaker and award-winning author, signed two of her books, "Life on a Balance Beam: It Helps If You Don't Look Down!" and "Raising Confident, Careful Kids in a Crazy World," after receiving a standing ovation for her humorous and wise presentation.
